Cannibal Star

Earth has no way of

Destroying nuclear waste –

Except for the bomb.

Volcanoes are too

Mild to split nuclei,

Erupting chaos.

And like conversion

Therapy, damage poisons

Water and the air.

Sandpaper Star with Susie Clevenger

A collaboration with Susie Clevenger. Visit her blog here.

sandpaper stars know
best is brighter than
the last surrender into
blemished expectations

callous words cannot
steal light life has earned
from a baptism of fire.

time lapsed rapture
left us sipping nicotine
from gamma rays where
we were fashioned in
a cloud of dust

we hang tattered, but whole
in a sapphire universe,
forgiving, forgetting,
overcoming the sanded speech
that tried to strip away our radiance.

I Seek the Stars

hopelessness inside of
sunken voices screaming
dreamers die cold
against the stars
they seek.

and I am
no exception to
the golden rule
turned silver before
flashing bronze.

light cannot escape
the truth caused and
stimulated by mundane
emotions everyday….

he hates her
and she hates him
because the copier
has never worked.

and we are red
and we are blue like
rising lava from
the sky.

Surface to Air

Inspired by several bits of random thoughts today.

She walks in starlight
Coming of age
In a riptide.

Her lone synth chords
Reminiscent of an
Open mic motel.

Burning multi-layered sound
We don’t fear the dark now.

There’s room enough for two
And Technicolor in a
Hot air balloon.

I can taste the comfort
On another world with you.

Delicate piano dodging
Missiles from the ground and
Candy playing on the radio

Can’t sing like we can hum
And feel the undertow.
