Ben is an author of gnomes, plays, poetry and more. He was first published in his college publications the Cornfield Review and KAPOW. Since then he has been featured in several online literary journals. As a founding member, he helped start the Quillective Project with Amber Norrgard, Scott Morgan and Rob Zimmermann. Their goal is raise money for different causes with an annual anthology. In past years they sponsored a no-kill animal shelter called Dog and Kitty City in the Dallas Texas area. Ben has recorded several episodes of a podcast on poetry (Lyrical Versification) with his cohost, Amber Jerome~Norrgard. Listen in on iTunes or Stitcher Radio. They Thought They Stood Higher

‘i’m scared, mom’

‘i’ll tell you a story…

‘she climbed
a different step
each day
as everyone
looked down’
on her’

‘but why
did they look down?’

‘because
they thought
they stood higher
and often
people think
that makes
them better…

‘but she would only
walk as fast and far
as she felt comfortable, you see
because it did not matter
what they thought
or if she even
reached the top

all that mattered
was her climbing
as their voices
and her fear
of them
sunk down.’
